2012: the year in Dota 2.

So 2012 came to an end. During this period, Dota 2 was released a lot of changes, heroes, cosmetic items. The balance of the game is not just ruled. Valve pleased us with two great gaming events, thanks to which we could feel the spirit of the holiday in the game.
We can say that this year Dota 2 fans got everything they expected from the developers. And what we have not yet seen in the game, waiting for us in the next 2013, which is about to come. The wait is not long!
Let’s take stock.
For 2012, the number of players in Dota 2 has increased by more than 2 million, reaching the mark of 3 000 000 in mid-December. And this is all despite the fact that players are currently available only beta testing.
During this time, more than 78 million games were played, of which most were held as private games ( 43,300,000), the remaining 35,700,000 were public games.
Giving more preference to the all Pick mode, players did not ignore such modes as Single Draft , Random Draft and Captain’s Mode .
The server of Europe remains the most popular among Dota 2 players. The number of games played on it is much higher than on other servers. I do not know what is connected with such a great gap, whether in Europe people do not suffer from “dot brain”, whether the number of players in this region is really more.
“Russian region” is the third place in the games, second only to the server of Asia.
During this year, the developers have done a lot of work to create heroes. They have repeatedly changed their appearance, modifying every small detail of the texture, model, effects and pictures abilities. With each update, Valve did not cease to please us throughout the year, getting the respect of existing players and interest in the project of new ones.

In addition to heroes, balance, bug fixes, Valve developers this year twice surprised us with their interesting approach to the game, introducing two game events for holidays such as Halloween and New year. Thanks to these events, players were able to take a break from the constant battle for the Throne, instead getting an exciting battle for candy, running in fear from the evil and hungry Roshan and felt in the skin of grivil, saving Christmas.
And for this still received gifts, such as items for heroes, couriers and stuff.
Yes, Valve are able to arrange a real holiday for their users!
A variety of things in Dota 2 can envy even the owners of the wardrobe 10 by 10 meters.
For each hero that is available for processing, this year created at least 3 sets. Each player can dress his hero as his heart desires. And after the contest from Polycount their number has increased. In addition to the sets that won prizes in the competition, the game also added items that the developers considered more qualitative and interesting.

Valve definitely well done! Giving the opportunity to create items for ordinary players, ordinary people, they gave the opportunity to show their talent to everyone, thereby making it easier to work for themselves, but not to the detriment of the game, but even Vice versa!
Another very interesting addition to Dota 2 in the past year was the ability to create your own team in the game. Allowing you to change the logo, the flag of the team, invite friends to it and exclude them from it.
